- Yes, three of my friends including me all have purchased the Quantum 1080 SCSI drive.
- So far, two of them dies after running 1year (approx 5000hours).
-
- The symptons are:
- At first: Very infrequently the OS can not boot up)
- As time goes on:
- More and more frequently not been able to boot up from hard drive.
- At last: Drive stops spinning no matter who many times you try to powerup and down the machine.
-
- So far my has not died yet, the only difference I have observed is that my other friends have their
- machine turned on for weeks and month at a time, and I power down my machine after 3 days and
- leave machine off for many days in between. This only tells me that I have not yet reached the
- hard drive dying time zone yet.
